Michigan Humane SocietyMichigan Human Society

If you know me personally, or have spent any time on my page.. then you know I’m an animal lover. The Michigan Humane Society is one of the largest and oldest animal welfare organizations in the state. They provide medical care, investigate animal cruelty, rescue, and care for tens of thousands of animals each year.

Michigan Humane Society needs your support because they…

  • Provide care for more than 100,000 animals each year
  • Operate three centers for animal care
  • Find responsible, loving homes for thousands of animals each year; MHS places more
  • animals in new homes than the next largest shelter in our state takes in each year
  • Reunite more than 1,000 lost animals with their owners each year
  • Operate a cruelty hotline staffed by professional cruelty investigators to assist
  • Provide emergency rescue 365 days a year for animals
  • Offer low-cost feline sterilization and provide a total of more than 13,000 spay/neuter surgeries each year to reduce pet overpopulation
  • Educate approximately 10,000 children annually, teaching them respect for animals, responsible animal care and safety around animals
  • Are a driving force for greater legislative protection for animals

Great Lakes Burn CampGreat Lakes Burn Camp

I was introduced to this awesome organization from a client of mine.. and I’m so grateful – this is such a special place for kids! One of the many great things they do is host summer and winter camps for children (who had suffered from burns). They even provide the transportation to and from the camp! Their focus is to teach the kids how to cope with the aftermath of being burned, while simultaneously learning to live life to the fullest. The staff is made up of almost all volunteers.. and come from all over the United States. This program has had such an impact on the kids, that once they become adults.. the majority of them give back by becoming camp counselors themselves! GLBC strives to be a place where kids will find solace and acceptance – after all.. everyone is beautiful inside and out!

When you hear the stories of how brave these kids are.. and how positive their attitudes remain.. you can’t help but want to step in and help this organization grow! You can learn more on their website:

Operation FINALLY HOME
Operation Finally Home

The mission of Operation FINALLY HOME is to provide custom-built, mortgage-free homes to America’s military heroes and the widows of the fallen who have sacrificed so much to defend our freedoms and values. Wounded, ill and injured service members return home to confront extreme hardships. Operation FINALLY HOME brings together communities to address one of the pressing needs of our returning heroes, a home. Providing a home for these heroes removes a huge financial burden from these soldiers, allowing them to focus on healing and preparing for their family’s future. Given the significant number of wounded, ill and injured service men and women returning from their service to our country, the organization is working to expand the program nationwide with the dream of one day seeing hundreds of homes built annually across the nation for our wounded veterans. For more information, you can visit their website at:

They collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November, and December each year.. and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community. Whether you can host a local Toys for Tots event, find a local toy drop location, or simply donate online – help Toys for Tots spread the joy of Christmas to children today!! Susan G. KomanI support the fight against Breast Cancer
I had the unfortunate experience of watching my mom (and best friend) battle breast cancer in 2008. We are so very grateful and fortunate that she has been cancer free since 2009, but there are many women out there today who have lost the fight, or are still on the journey. Susan G. Komen has been taking their time, money, and efforts to launch a global breast cancer movement. They’ve invested almost $2 billion to work towards the end of breast cancer. Their efforts have fueled ground-breaking research, community health outreach, and programs in more than 50 countries. More importantly, Komen has played a critical role in transforming how we view the disease.. talk about it.. and support breast cancer survivors.

They predict breast cancer will hit more than 1.3 million women annually over the next 20 years, killing 11 million of them. Let’s all take a responsible role in spreading the knowledge, resources, and funds needed to help end this horrible disease.

Wounded Warrior Projectwounded-warrior-project

There are several programs out there to support our Veterans.. and what better way to say, thank you for serving your country and/or giving your life to defend our freedom. Some of us take for granted that our loved ones are safe and at home with us. Many families in America are separated from their loved ones overseas, or worse.. they’ve lost their loved ones. So many soldiers who are fortunate enough to return, will still have to battle mental or physical injuries for the rest of their lives. Wounded Warrior is dedicated to raising awareness, and supporting injured service members. They say for every US solder killed, seven are wounded – and that doesn’t even account for the estimated 400,000 service members living with invisible wounds of war (combat-related stress, major depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder). Let’s honor and empower our service men and women through this program. For more information, visit:
